About me
Born and raised in the horse region of Münsterland, my connection to horses began early in life. From a young age, it was clear to me that I wanted to become a veterinarian, which led me to the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover after completing my high school diploma.
Alongside veterinary medicine, I have always been fascinated by the craft of farriery. This interest was further strengthened by my own horse, which suffered from hoof problems throughout its life, giving the saying “no hoof, no horse” a very real meaning.
During my studies, I completed a clinical internship in 2018 at the renowned equine hospital 'Rood & Riddle' in Kentucky, USA. There, I worked closely with so-called 'vet farriers' – veterinarians who had also completed formal farriery training. This combination of veterinary expertise and practical craftsmanship left a lasting impression on me and laid the foundation for my further professional path.
After completing my studies in 2019, I initially continued my academic career and began my doctoral research in 2020 at the University of Leipzig. My dissertation focused on 'Sensor-based examination of the influence of different horseshoe modifications on the duration of the stride phases of the horse'. In collaboration with PD Dr. Jenny Hagen and the Dutch horseshoe manufacturer Werkman, I further deepened my knowledge of biomechanics and scientifically investigated the effects of different shoeing modifications on hoof movement.
In addition to my research, I decided to complete my practical training as a farrier with the renowned farrier Loïc Entwistle in Rhineland-Palatinate, which I successfully finished in 2024. After working as a qualified journeyman farrier, I have been working as a farrier both in Germany and internationally since autumn 2025.
Besides my practical work, the well-founded preparation and practice-oriented communication of knowledge form an essential part of my professional activities. As a lecturer, freelance contributor to the international journal 'The Farriers Journal', and founder of the Hoof Academy, I put this focus into practice in a variety of ways.
