In the current issue of 'The farriers journal', a professional article on the topic of hollow walls has been published. Using two case studies, I discuss the development and treatment of hollow walls and highlight why successful therapy does not depend solely on hoof preparation and shoeing, but also on management, workload and environmental factors.

As part of the 15th Hoof Conference of the DHG e.V. on the topic 'Toe Length in Horses – Morphology, Biomechanics and Clinical Relevance' at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Leipzig University, I gave a presentation on 'The Influence of Toe Length on Breakover Mechanics and Loading of the Equine Hoof'. The presentation focused on the biomechanical importance of the breakover phase as well as the relationship between hoof preparation, shoeing and their impact on hoof loading. The conference also provided valuable opportunities for professional exchange with colleagues from various fields of equine hoof care and veterinary medicine.

Following my first visit last winter, I spent several weeks in Sweden again in June, working with my valued farrier colleague Nathalie Varenstål. The practical work with different horses, the intensive professional exchange and the collaborative development of solutions for various clinical cases were once again a valuable experience.

During the two-day course with Dr. Hans Castelijns at Loïc Entwistle in Rhineland-Palatinate, I gave a lecture on the topic 'Lameness after Shoeing'. The focus was not only on possible causes, but above all on a systematic approach to the assessment of lameness cases in relation to hoof preparation and shoeing. In addition, a webinar on this topic is planned for the end of August.

Two case reports from my practical work in Switzerland have been published in the current issue of 'The farriers journal'. The topics focused on rehabilitation management following a tendon injury as well as the stabilization of the hoof capsule through targeted shoeing measures.
