When Shoeing Leads to Lameness – Causal Analysis and Practical Approaches

Seeing more without imaging - what the hoof can tell us...
Diagnostic imaging and modern diagnostic techniques have become an integral part of equine medicine. At the same time, a thorough clinical examination and careful assessment remain essential. This continuing education series explores how much information the equine hoof can provide without imaging – from evaluating the hoof capsule and applying targeted examination techniques to making practical farriery decisions.
Part I: Hoof Capsule, Hoof testers & Co.
The first part focuses on the assessment of the hoof capsule and the interpretation of hoof changes as indicators of potential underlying problems. In addition, it demonstrates how hoof testers can be used as a versatile diagnostic tool to support clinical assessment.
